Where Our Clients Live and Work
Most of our clients live in Eatontown or a short drive away. We regularly sit down with people from West Long Branch, Long Branch, Oceanport and Tinton Falls. We also work with clients in Neptune, Ocean and Asbury Park, and up toward Red Bank, Rumson and Lincroft.
You do not have to come in to work with us. Plenty of clients start at the office and switch to phone or video once the plan is in place. Others never visit at all. The work is the same either way. We look at your accounts, your policies and your goals, and we tell you plainly what is working. If something only needs an adjustment, we say so. If it no longer fits, we explain why and what a better option looks like.
What Shapes Planning for New Jersey Clients
- 01
State taxes
New Jersey taxes income on its own terms. Social Security is not taxed at the state level, and some pension and IRA income can be excluded once you meet the age and income tests. We weigh the state side when we plan withdrawals, Roth conversions and which accounts to tap first, so the plan matches what you actually keep.
- 02
Passing wealth to family
New Jersey still has an inheritance tax for some heirs, based on how they are related to you. Spouses and children are usually exempt. Siblings, nieces and nephews may not be. In our legacy planning work we check who is named on each account and policy, because a beneficiary form often carries more weight than a will.
- 03
Staying or moving in retirement
A lot of people here weigh staying close to family against moving somewhere that costs less. We work out the numbers for both. The decision then rests on your goals instead of a hunch about taxes.
- 04
Business owners
Owners of small firms in the area often have most of their wealth inside the business. We review retirement accounts built for owners, life insurance to fund a buy-sell agreement, and ways to grow savings outside the company over the long term.
- 05
Existing accounts and policies
Most clients come in with an old 401(k), a couple of brokerage accounts or a life insurance policy bought years back. We go through each one before suggesting a change. Holding on to a sound policy or fund is often the smarter choice, and we will say so when it is.
